Kaalratri Mata - seventh day of Navratri

kaalratri Mata - seventh day of Navratri
Kalratri (sometimes spelled Kalratri) is the seventh of the nine forms of Goddess Durga, known as Navadurga. She is first referred to in Durga Saptashati, chapters 81–93 of the Markandeya Purana, the earliest known literature on Goddess Durga. Kalratri is widely considered to be one of the many destructive forms of the Mother Goddess, including Kali, Mahakali, Bhadrakali, Bhairavi, Mrityu, Rudrani, Chamunda, Chandi and Durga. It is not uncommon to search for names, with Kali and Kalratri being interchanged, although these two deities are argued to be somewhat different entities. Kali is mentioned in Hinduism as a typical goddess around 3000 BC. Chronologically, Kalratri (literally described in the Mahabharata, 3137 BCE - 3067 BCE) is forecast, but most likely, informs, the current representation of Kali. Kalratri is traditionally worshiped during the nine nights of Navratri celebrations. The seventh day of Navratri Puja (Hindu prayer ritual) is specially dedicated to her and is considered to be the fiery form of the Goddess, her presence itself arouses fear. This form of the goddess is believed to destroy all demon entities, ghosts, spirits and negative energies, who run away upon discovering her arrival. Saudipagama, an ancient Tantric treatise referred to in Silpa Prakashan, describes the goddess Kalratri as the goddess who rules the day and night part of the night. He is associated with the Mukutra Chakra (also known as Sahasrara Chakra) from which the invader receives siddhis and funds (in particular, knowledge, power and wealth). Kalratri is also known as Shubhankari (Shubhankari) - which means doing good in auspicious / Sanskrit, due to the belief that she always provides auspicious results to her devotees. Therefore, it is believed that she makes her devotees fearless. Other lesser known names of Goddess Kalratri include Raudri and Dhumorna.
